There's a quiet belief behind almost every launch: if the idea is good enough, people will come.

Katie LeDoux knows that gap well. She spent years raising money for programs at the Smithsonian and the Kennedy Center, then launched Sunflower Grant Writers in Omaha, a city where she barely knew anyone.

Then COVID hit.

Her first year, she'd finish her work by 11am and spend the rest of the day cleaning a house that had never been cleaner. Clients wanted to meet her before they'd trust her, so she stopped waiting and built her pipeline one relationship at a time.

Along the way, she also learned to stop hiring people she could boss around and start hiring people who were smarter than she was. That shift gave her something she'd never had before: time to dream.

Your idea might be great. It still needs people who know you, trust you, and want to see you succeed. The sooner you start building those relationships, the less time you spend waiting for a phone that isn't ringing.
